Meeting a Need

Established by leaders of Bermuda's insurance industry in 1996, BFIS is tasked with ensuring that Bermudian students are provided with opportunities to attain the education and training necessary for careers in Bermuda's insurance industry. This is being achieved through scholarships, mentoring, internships and career guidance.

CAREER PRESENTATIONS
Every year members of the BFIS Schools Outreach Committee, mainly consisting of BFIS Alumni, arrange to visit all Bermuda’s high schools in order to talk to senior year students about careers in the insurance industry.  We then arrange a series of “Lunch & Learns” for those students interested in learning more about the industry.

Each February we arrange for all high schools to send up to 8 students each to a series of 3 speed networking events: Monday – Law, Actuarial and IT; Wednesday – Accounting & Finance; Friday – general Insurance-related.  Approxmately 35 students attend each of the 3 sessions, with similar numbers of professionals in attendance so it is an excellent opportunity for students to find out more about areas that are of interest.
