Established by leaders of Bermuda's insurance industry in 1996, BFIS is tasked with ensuring that Bermudian students are provided with opportunities to attain the education and training necessary for careers in Bermuda's insurance industry.
This is being achieved through scholarships, mentoring, internships and career guidance.

Summer Interns Presentations
On Friday, August 5, the twelve BFIS 2011 ‘Intro-to-Insurance’ summer intern programme students made team presentations to 40 BFIS donors, trustees and students demonstrating what they learned from their experiences in the Bermuda, London and Chicago insurance markets. Each student told the audience what they personally gained from the experience and also answered audience questions. This BFIS programme is sponsored by Allied World Assurance. Prior to the event the Royal Gazette interviewed one student from each team for a news article published on August 8, 2011.
