Established by leaders of Bermuda's insurance industry in 1996, BFIS is tasked with ensuring that Bermudian students are provided with opportunities to attain the education and training necessary for careers in Bermuda's insurance industry.
This is being achieved through scholarships, mentoring, internships and career guidance.

Bermudian students studying insurance-related subjects in New York – don’t miss this great opportunity! The Reinsurance Association of America is offering a scholarship for one student to attend one of their education seminars being held in New York. The Reinsurance Association of America established the Patrick A. Thiele Scholarship in recognition of the long and distinguished career of Mr. Thiele, who retired as the Chairman of Partner Re at the end of 2010. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a student selected by the Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies (BFIS) to attend a RAA education program either in Bermuda or in the U.S and covers the cost of registration for the programs, not travel or hotel expenses.
