The fundraising efforts of the BFIS Alumni Association over the past year have raised enough money to fund a scholarship worth $10,000, which was awarded to Zoe Wright at the BFIS Awards Reception on July 18th.
July 2016: BFIS awardes $293,000 in scholarship funding to 13 students focused on careers in Bermuda’s insurance sector. This brings the total amount of funding that the Foundation has awarded over the past 20 years to over $5.8 million – all funded by the insurance industry.
BFIS interns head overseas to learn about other insurance markets
Twelve Bermudian undergraduates flew off to Atlanta, Chicago and London this weekend to start their two week BFIS ‘Intro-to-insurance’ summer intern programmes. Each team of four students will be learning in depth about all aspects of the insurance business.
Date: Monday July 4th (as always, this is a holiday in the US, and London will be closed by 1pm, so no excuse not to be out there and network with your Bermuda based colleagues!)
This series is a great opportunity for our Chapter members and local summer interns to engage our C-Suite speakers in casual Q & A.
This month’s speaker is Patrick Tannock, President of XL Insurance (Bermuda)
The annual BFIS Bermuda Summer Intern programme started this week for six undergraduate students who will spend the next three weeks (May 23 – June 10) learning about the Bermuda insurance market from how to form an insurance company to work-shadowing underwriters, actuaries and brokers.
